First Official Heroes 4 Card Game Scenario!

The first official Heroes 4 Card Game scenario has been posted today at Heroes Community. This is the first of three scenarios in Order of Light campaign. The narrative reads:

A powerful wizard who has been ousted from his island domain offers power over the sea to the man who recovers his staff and liberates his city. You and your opponents take up this cause and compete for this reward.

The campaign is indeed multiplayer! The map is composed of one specific tile, plus one tile of each player's choosing. Concepts involved in card game campaigns are very original, surpassing what the computer game can do. DGA is looking for feedback from players, so don't forget to post what you think after you've played it.

Heroes V: Creature Abilities

The next part in the town showcase was revealed today on Might and Magic.com - focusing on individual creature abilities. Ubisoft have written an in-depth overview of creature abilities for one creature from each alignment. You can find it here, along with a full-list of speculative creature abilities attached at the bottom of the page. Along with the detailed overview came 6 screenshots of each of these abilities in action, which have been added to the Official Screenshots Gallery.

Server Upgrade

Due to an increased load, the old server was not able to sustain Age of Heroes and Heroes Community. The sites were down for just over 24 hours as the files and databases were being moved to the new server. All posts and HCM messages were retained. It is very likely that the new server will offer better performance and faster page processing times.

Heroes Community Updates Continue

Bottom section of the title page of Heroes Community now shows Last 10 Replies instead of 5, along with the poster and time. The 'Top 10 Threads' was replaced with 'Random 20+ Threads' for guests and logged out users, while the members get a very unique feature in its place, 'Replies in Your Threads', which displays 10 of the threads that you have started along with the date/time they were last replied to.

Index, forum view and thread view pages will now alert you with noticeable red text when you have new HC Messages. When your HC Messenger is running and you receive a new message, you will hear a soft bell ring - very handy if you are multi-tasking.

There has been an inflow of new members to Heroes Community in the last few weeks. I hope these improvements will make it an even more friendly and fun place to visit and contribute to. If you are new, don't forget to say hello at the Welcomes forum.

The future of ToH and Online Heroes Gaming?

Players have asked as to what will become of Tournament of Honor when Homm5 arrives. Well definitely a lot of good things, the site will once again have a new look to it, along with a brand new season that should usher a tremendous amount of new activity. Together with Age of Heroes, ToH will usher a new standard in Homm community services.

The automation for this site was designed to handle a lot of traffic, but the dissapointment called HeroesIV never allowed ToH to rise to its full potential. Now with HommV we have high hopes of a return to the days of Season III where 100s of games were being played a day.

Right now the player database has nearly 22,000 members, with all records & history intact. So when the move is made to Heroes V on its launch (realistically sometime around February 2006) all veteran dragon/wyvern icons will follow through for those concerned (along with Caesar titles). But we expect a tremendous influx of new players by that time...

Looks like Ubisoft will have its own matchmaking service (like zone, gamespy) so most if not all ToH gaming will go on there. It is also rumored that they may have their own ladder setup as well. But ToH is where its at... we promise :)

Heroes V: New Screenshots, Art Contest News

The Official Site was updated today with 5 new screenshots of Heroes V (and a new collection of Dark Messiah shots), featuring the various hero trails, bar Sylvan. Fabrice Cambounet also expressed his opinions on the hero trails in Heroes V on the main page. The shots have been updated in the Official Screenshots section, while the Dark Messiah shots can be seen here.

In the Nival Interactive Heroes V Art Contest, a total of 16 posters have been placed on the Nival Site. As of yet, the posters do not showcase the newly revealed Academy, leaving that area open to new submissions. The Art Contest has been extended to the 27th of November, so you still have time to submit your entries! Good luck!

Heroes V: New Russian Interview, 3rd Beta Push

A Russian interview on the Russian computer-related site, the F-Centre, has been conducted with three members of the Nival crew, Ilya Karpinsky, Assistant Director, Alexander Mishulin, Creative Director, and Larisa Nuretdinova. A very roughly translated version of the interview with a summary of the most important facts can be found here. The most important facts outlined were:
- There will be no campaign editor
- There will be a universal campaign script, where you can play as all the factions
- Five difficulty levels are not planned. There could be more or less
- Each town has a special ability, read more about them in the summary

Fabrice Cambounet has informed lucky beta-testers that the e-mails for the third push have been sent, but the download will not be available until later today or tomorrow in this thread. There will be a fourth and final push before the Open Beta begins early next year.
