Heroes V: 4 New Screenshots

4 new screenshots were released today on Nival's Russian Site. The new elements of the game seen include ships, ballistae (clearer for the first time), and the underground entrance. You can view them all here, in the Official Screenshots Gallery.

Regarding the 4th Push, the registrations have indeed been officially closed since December 15th, but barring a minor miracle, the names will not be calculated today, but on Friday instead. You can still post and try your luck, but it is overwhelmingly likely that those who did not express interest before December 15th will have to wait until the Open Beta next year.

Heroes V: Push 4 Around the Corner

A post by Fabrice Cambounet in the Official Forums has given the last phase of betatesters some hope about the Fourth Push: "I'll try to round the names, pass them for forum access, and send keys tomorrow. No promise though, and if its not tomorrow, it'll have to wait until friday."

Edit: 'Official' submissions were closed on December 15th, however, the thread is still open, so tempt fate give it a try anyway. Also concerning the 'Open Play Test', Fabrice has mentioned that "we are doing such playtests on a regular basis in Ubi :p This is indeed about a small bunch of people testing a limited aspect of the game."

In other news, an exclusive screenshot has been posted in the Other Screenshots 2 section (the last shot).

Heroes Community News Notification

Heroes Community pages will now indicate when Age of Heroes news section (what your are reading now) has been updated. For members, the time will be displayed in their own time zone. You will find this feature next to the AOH link in the top right corder of HC pages. This makes HC header most convenient - now from a single glance you know whether you have any new messages, and whether there are any fresh Heroes news.

Heroes Community Messenger has been very well received - now on some days over 100 HC Messages are exchanged between users. The new server has so far proven to be excellent - the site has become significantly faster and more stable. The debate about the elusive 200,000th post of Heroes Community has been spoiled by our moderator RedSoxFan3, who has rather scientifically proven that HC received over 333,000 posts. Sure shows that the mods are doing their job :) That is also the reason why HC member count keeps rising and dropping - Pandora is the prime fighter in our clone wars, and no inactive accounts without posts will be spared.

Heroes V: Beta Test Push 4

In a dramatic turn of events, Fabrice Cambounet has given memebers who did not previously enrol for the Beta Test in the original registration phase the chance to express their interest in this thread. It is likely that there won't be the same number of seats available, and the exact number has not been specified. This is your last opportunity to enter the Closed Beta, so don't hesitate to express your interest!

"Lets say people who express the will in this thread. I reserve the right to stop taking applications at any time"

Also regarding the Open Beta, Fabrice has stated that, "it will not be limited to people who actually subscribed back in september."

Heroes V: Beta Test Extension, Video Snippet

Fabrice Cambounet informed the Heroes-playing community today that the current, third push of the Beta Test would be extended until early January, signalling perhaps that the Development team plan to take a well-deserved break over the Christmas season. The fourth wave of the Beta Test has been delayed indefinitely, while the Open Beta has been pushed back to at least after early January. You'll hear from Fabrice and his team about the Open Beta next year.
Considering that the Closed Beta is scheduled to end in early January, and that there is still the Open Beta and Demo to come before the Official Release, not to mention the Gold period, the February 1st predicted release date looks in grave jeopardy.

In other news, a small video of Heroes V has made its way into a Swedish Media Website, Svt.se and can be found between 18:42m and 19:02m of the video provided in the link. I have taken the liberty to make video captures of the 3 new screens seen in the video in the Other Video Captures Gallery.

Microsoft Gaming Zone for HeroesIII -- Over Soon :(

Heroes III has had the advantage of having both Gamespy and the MSN Zone as is matchmaking service, but as of Late January, 2006, MSN Zone will discontinue supporting Homm3. Many players not only use this to find opponents, but it has also become their favorite chatroom and home to meet old homm competitors and friends.

So what can be done? Nothing but to move over to Gamespy to continue playing Homm3, as Homm4 players do. A good many players will probably stop playing homm3 online because of this, as gamespy is a lot less popular among the homm3 community. We can only hope that Homm5 will bring the veterans back and UBISoft's alternative -- their own matchmaking service will help revitalize the online Homm community.
