Heroes 5 Printable Reference Guides

As many of you are complaining about, H5 manual is clearly lacking, and in-game information doesn't help much. Still hoping that Ubi will address this concern, we created printable reference guides, sort of mini-manuals for skills and creatures, so that you can enjoy your games without alt-tabbing.

You can get support or send us feedback about them on the dedicated forum thread. And be sure to tell us which one you'd like next.

Weekly HC Poll Results, The Ultimate Favourite Faction Poll

Two Critical Improvements for Heroes 5 Poll results:
1. Map Editor - 59 vote points
2. Random Map Generator - 58 vote points
3. Additional Factions - 54 vote points
4. Duel Hero Customisation - 11 vote points
These vote points indicate which features HC members would suggest to Fabrice as the two critical Heroes 5 features to work on ASAP. Clearly, maps are number one, and there's an almost even split between voters for the first priority - Map Editor or Random Map Generator. Additional Factions are in surprisingly high demand, even though the game has just been released. And Duel Hero Customisation doesn't seem to be a high priority at all for most people. What would Fabrice say to that? We'll let you know soon :)

Meanwhile, the six factions of Heroes V are at war - for you! Or rather for your vote. This week we are deciding what the best faction in Heroes 5 is. Every vote counts - do not let your favourite faction be defeated. Vote here! In one week the winning faction will be announced.

Multiplayer ToH Games on the UBISoft Servers

Helpful Ways to Sift Through the Chaos -- Playing on Tournament of Honor

Now with most people getting their pre-orders of Homm5, the multiplayer gamerooms are filling up with over 200 players at any time. Most are not very serious about playing a full game, and pop in & out of rooms without any real desire to spend more than an hour playing. Here's some suggestions on getting a game started:

When signing up an account to the Ubi server, wait 5 minutes or reboot after install of the game, because the password file on the Ubi hosting server might take as long as 5 minutes to write your account to it to allow you to login. Even when you try to log in, the servers are starting to get bogged down, and it may take a while just to get into the Ubi rooms. Once there, lets make Ranked Room 1 the place ToH players meet -- why? Because it is the always the busiest room, but also the best way to introduce new potentially serious player to ToH's advanced ranking system.

If you're hosting, open a room with 'ToHeroes.com Game' and password protect it with 'toh' if you want. The problem is that you cannot be in the chat area when you open up a room, which is a weakness of the Ubi matching rooms compared to what veterans were used to (Zone, Gamespy, etc).

Its strongly recommended that you make sure you have at least 5 hours time to play when you decide to open a room, so you can finish the game in one sitting. Continuing from saves is troublesome for now, as the host must email their saved game to the guest and then the guest must place it in their saved game directory.

Fortunately, it is somewhat impossible to cheat by looking at saves or using trainers for now, which is a plus for hardcore ToH gamers.

Updates to the Heroes V Section

Sfidanza and I were busy testing rather than playing Heroes V this week, and, as a result, there are a number of new pages to unveil.
Take special care, story-tellers, because just one click away is the entire list of Heroes V Campaigns, including every map, their objectives, and bonuses - all compiled by Sfidanza. While the initial link won't give away so much as the map names, you'll also be able to click through to Campaign help at Heroes Community. The Moon Weeks have also been updated and grouped by Sfidanza. A French Version is also available.
Among the most commonly asked questions in the beta was reagrding the mechanism of the elemental chains. However, the beta system was discarded for a simpler iteration. I have re-constructed the Elemental Chains Page which elucidates upon Elemental Chains in version 1.0.

Heroes V Gamespot Review

Gamespot, over a week after the game was initially released, has finally posted its review of Heroes of Might and Magic V. The game receives a respectable 8.2, the main drawbacks being the number of bugs and light content in the manual, most of which can be fixed in upcoming patches.

"For instance, many creatures have unique special abilities that are listed in the game, but not explained. What exactly does the horned overseer's "enraged" ability do? Figure it out."

Of course, obvious detractions such as the Map Editor and online connectivity are also highlighted, though on the whole, the review gives a positive wrap of the single player game, the music and the sheer depth of the game. Read it all here.

Heroes V Updates - Post Release

While those in America have yet another day to wait before they can get their hands on the game, the rest of the world has had a chance to test and try the game. Needless to say, there are a great elements, and there are those that need fixing. That being said, A Nival Representative, Alexander Tikhonov, has stated that the first patch will be released next week, featuring the "Easy" difficulty among other things.

Sfidanza has assembled a list of changes from the Demo version (0.9) to the Release version (1.0).
The Heroes V Screenshots Contest is underway, with good interest shown already. What better way is there of getting a free Heroes V Prima Strategy Guide?
If you're having trouble with any of the campaigns, Pray in the Temple, and you shall receive your answer.

10,000 Heroes!

Before we could finish celebrating the 5,000 unique daily visitors to Age of Heroes, we have already gone up to 10,000! Now AOH and HC are serving a total of about 1 million pages each week!
I've added a little counter (AOH only) to the bottom of this page.

Weekly Poll Results, Next Poll: 2 Critical Heroes 5 Features

What is the best feature of Heroes 5? Here are the results:
1. The way each faction is unique (25) - clearly a well-developed aspect of the game.
2. Improved skills system (15) - a lot of work went into it, it shows.
3. The graphics (12) - aside from minor glitches / taste differences, the game is beautiful.
4. Gameplay and interface (6) - some innovation but not the strongest aspect.
5. Great multiplayer options (0) - lacking custom duel heroes / simultaneous turns.

This week you are up for a very special ride in a limo with Fabrice Cambounet to discuss the next two critical Heroes 5 features and influence the HOMM history - hop in.

Let the Games Begin!

Multiplayer Gaming is Now Officially Open For Homm5 ToH

Players may report their games for Tournament of Honor rankings points now; while most people will get their copy in a few days, there is already some multiplayer gaming trickling into the Ubisoft Gamerooms. There are currently 5 'Ubi Ranked' and 5 'Training' rooms for Homm5 gaming, it is recommended to play in the ranked rooms, so you have not only stats here on ToH, but on their own rankings server. Remember that Duel games are NOT played for rankings on ToH.
