Fan Fiction, and Heroes IV CTG News

A new Fan Fiction section has been opened on Age of Heroes, thanks to the first story from Daystar, Druid. Don't hesitate to submit your own stories in .txt, .doc or .html format, and if they're accepted for publication, we'll convert them and put them up on the site.

A lucky few have already received some Storm Winds expansion cards, coming in two sets, Hope and Despair. See this thread for more details about the new skills.

Heroes V Expansion - Information at last!

Russian gaming magazine Igromania are the first to have any kind of information regarding the Heroes V Expansion (presumably to be published in the September issue of their magazine), as can be seen on this page. For those who can't understand Russian, the small snippet reads as follows:

... The main pride of the dwarven faction is not pet mammoths, and not their interesting skills or unique castle, but the completely new rune magic. Only dwarves can learn it. At the same time dwarves can use all other schools of magic. Rune magic is completely different from everything we're used to seeing in the Heroes series. For starters you need resources instead of mana in order to use it ...

So it seems a Dwarven town with Rune magic (and Pet Mammoths) awaits us in the expansion!
Thanks to alexrom66 from Heroic Corner for the information.

Heroes V Manual - French and German versions available

Today, two more localizations of the Heroes 5 manual have been released: Archangel Castle (french) and Drachenwald (german) deserve all your gratitude for their hard work here.

We also took the opportunity to add some new content, like hero specials and skills details, and a new advanced game mechanics section at the end. Our thanks go to the Heroic Corner team and alexrom66 in particular, that provided much information once again. These additions will of course make their way in the next releases of the other versions.

Download the manuals on Ubi servers: French Manual (52.9Mb) - German Manual (50.8Mb)

Heroes V Manual - Made by Fans, Approved by Ubisoft

Perhaps you've noticed the lack of updates on Age of Heroes lately. What if we've told you that we were busy making a 200 page Heroes V game manual together with the teams of international HOMM websites and collaboration of Ubisoft and Nival? We just have :)

Without further ado, you can download the Heroes V Manual here.

More details about the Heroes V Manual and the Ubisoft Seal of Approval can be found in the HC Thread. Don't forget to tell us your feedback and to report any errors that you find.

Thanks to the teams of international HOMM websites, the Heroes V Manual will be available in Russian and Spanish - likely tomorrow. More languages are planned. Stay tuned.

Heroes V Bonus Maps and Fabrice speaks out!

Fans of Heroes V who have registered their game would have received an e-mail earlier today or yesterday informing them of 2 bonus maps: the Refugee (which is in the Collectors' Edition) and the "Last Hope", which is in patch 1.2. They can be found on Ubi's ftp.

Fabrice Cambounet has written a response to Unreal_az's community-wide plea to prioritise the development of Heroes V. The response tries to explain a few of the regressions found in patch 1.2, and an update of the team's progression in terms of development.

Heroes V Expansion Towns Poll Results

After an extended period of time, the results of the Heroes V Expansion Towns Poll are finally in. The votes were fairly evenly spread, with a clear preference for 2 or more towns to be unveiled in the expansion.
Orc: 9 (7%)
Barbarian: 30 (24%)
Naga/Swamp: 18 (15%)
Dwarf: 20 (16%)
2 or more: 42 (34%)
Three fans thought there would be another town which was not specified in the poll to appear in the expansion, while one person had a more pessimistic view, saying there won't be any towns at all.
In any case, 99% of fans expect Ubisoft and Nival to deliver with at least 1 town, so they will have their work cut out for them in the coming months with patches, the map editor, and the expansion.

Cheating Guide updated to 1.2 status

With the 1.2 patch, Nival has disabled the ability to cheat in multiplayer, which is a very wise move. However, it also means that all the simplest commands are no longer available. Go have a look at the updated cheating guide to find alternate lua @commands for each and everyone of them.

AT LAST! The Multiplayer Patch Is Out

The Multiplayer Bugs are Gone -- Full Complete Games are Possible Now

You can download the version 1.2 Patch HERE. Tried and tested it -- there are no more crash bugs, de-synching bugs, or save bugs with the new patch. So you can expect to start and finish a multiplayer game without worrying about any of these issues anymore. Take note though that any saves you have under version 1.0 or 1.1 will not work with the 1.2, it will revert the game back to the older version. So go to UBI's matching service and GET GAMING! Perhaps the Tournament can truly begin as of today... so visit ToHeroes.

Other Modifications include a few gameplay tweaks, along with a Hall of Fame so you can actually get a score when you finish the solo maps or campagins, making it worthwhile to push for the higher difficulty levels.

Heroes V Patch 1.2 Arrives Tomorrow

News from Fabrice Cambounet in the Ubi Forums has indicated that the Patch will be available tomorrow. There has been approximately 12 hours since his announcement, so you can expect the patch to be ready within the next 12 hours, so keep your eye on MightandMagic.com.

As for the tardy arrival of the patch; Fabrice attributes it to the following:
We are really late (one month) with this patch, and I'm sorry about that. It took much longer than expected to debug the multiplayer desynchronisation, and it has been a step by step process, with no visibility of the completion. I hope the debugging process still allowed the coders to get their share of the football world cup showings ;)
