How to read this page
Most of the elements describing the creature should be quite familiar. However, if they're not, here's what you should know:
- The Attributes panel presents the creature's attack, defense and such. Position your mouse over an element to display the tooltip if you're not familiar with the icon.
- The Economics panel shows the cost of the unit, and its weekly growth rate.
- Move your mouse over the abilities to show the description popup.
- Casters have a spellbook: it opens as a popup to show the creature's spells. The little icon next to the spell name represents the creature's mastery of that spell, ranked from None to Expert. Click on a spell to go to the corresponding spell page.
- The Experience value is the amount of experience your hero will gain when killing one creature of that type.
- The Power Rating is a global indicator of the creature power. It allows you to roughly compare different creatures, even if, of course, there's no such thing as a unique strategy and power ladder in Heroes 5!!

Imps are a quick level 1 creature who can deal good damage. Though hampered by their Hit Points, numerous stacks of Imps can be a great annoyance to enemy heroes. They are also fairly cheap. | Walker

While the Familiar is a decent upgrade, and proves to be even more of a pest than the Imp, their cost is almost doubled, making it the most expensive level 1 walker. They do however deal good damage, and have a great initiative value, though their speed is rather low. | Walker

Inferno - Level 1 Upgrade Vermin |

In many respects, the Horned Demon is a worse creature than the Familiar. It only possesses the Enraged special, pathetic attack and defense ratings, poor damage, initative, and average speed. The only element of this creature that is not below-average is its hit points. Thankfully, they are only 40 gold, but would you be willing to pay even that much? | Walker

Inferno - Level 2 Upgrade Horned Overseer |

---|---|---|
Horned Overseers are slow and sturdy creatures who can withstand great amounts of damage. These beasts can "implode" in a surge of primal chaos energy, doing great harm to all creatures around them. | ||

The Horned Overseer is a much needed improvement over the struggling Horned Demon. It improves upon its base creature in almost every aspect. It only costs 50% more, and only 15 more gold than the Familiar - indeed, it is 3/5s as cheap as Dungeon's Assassin. Their explosion special ability is quite effective for dealing some nice splash damage. Especially when against a powerful ranged army, here, your Overseers will be cut down before they can do anything. | Walker

Inferno - Level 3 Hell Hound |
||
---|---|---|
Fury drives the Hell Hound to move quickly around the battlefield, striking with great strength and anger. Their rage when fighting is also a weakness, however. Hell Hounds care little for their own safety and leave themselves vulnerable in order to focus all their energy on the attack. | ||

Undoubtedly, Hell Hounds are offensive creatures, and their statistics reflect that. They have an average attack rating of 4, (though their defense is a low 2) and they deal average damage for a level 3. However, their trump card is in their initiative and speed (and initiative). Hell Hounds often get to attack twice as often as enemy creatures like the Squire, effectively dealing almost twice as much damage. Their lack of a special is a detriment to their otherwise respectable attacking orientation. | Walker
|
Inferno - Level 3 Upgrade Cerberus |
||
---|---|---|
Fury drives the Cerberus to move quickly around the battlefield and strike with great strength and anger, but in its rage it often pays too little heed to its own defense. Cerberus attacks are impossible to defend against, and its three-headed strike can hit multiple enemies. | ||

Unfortunately, the good grounding of the Hell Hound is not improved upon by much with the Cerberus. Damage is improved, but aside from that, it's the specials that lead the way for the Cerberus. Both of them are specifically suited to the Cerberus' attacking mentality, and means that it can deal up to 4.5x more damage than its downgrade. No Retaliation also ensures that it remains in battle much longer. | Walker

The Hell Charger is a fair creature statistically, hampered only by its lack of Hit Points. It is a very cheap option at only 480 gold, and its abilities are quite apt and deflect damage from it. It has very high iniative and good speed that make it a good attacker too - a versatile creature. | Walker

Inferno - Level 5 Upgrade Nightmare |

Nightmares are spun from the most twisted visions of the denizens of Ashan. The Nightmare improves on the Hell Charger in a number of aspects, the biggest difference being the 50% increase in Attack and Defense values. It has also had a 16 HP increase, and an extra speed value added. Fright Aura is demoralising for nearby enemy melee creatures and fliers. The cost is fair for the changes, and is still a cheap fifth level choice. | Walker

The Pit Fiend is a formidable force on the battlefield. It is quite commendable in all areas, but perhaps only slightly lacking in damage due to the 13 HP range. It is also quite expensive and is very slow, especially for a level 6, and is therefore best left on the backlines to cast spells, or to allow other creatures to approach it. | Caster

Inferno - Level 6 Upgrade Pit Lord |

An interesting upgrade offering the bare minimum in the upgrade - 10 more hit points, slightly increased damage, and another specialty. The Pit Lord is effectively the same creature with similar strategies, though the Vorpal Sword ability encourages the player to use them offensively, too, as its ensures there is a creature perishing in every attack (excellent against level 7s). Its damage range is huge and easily exploited through cursing spells. It is quite a small price to pay for the upgrade, though it is above average for level 6s. | Caster

The Devil has good Hit Points for an un-upgraded level 7, and its attack and defence ratings are also suited to an fast, offensive, flying creature. However, it is the most expensive of its kind, and its damage range is so large that it can either deal as much damage as a level 6 or greater than most upgraded level 7s. However, if this damage output can be maximised, the Devil would make a great attacking creature. | Flyer

Inferno - Level 7 Upgrade Arch Devil |

The great Arch Devils rise from their fiery realm to lead the infernal armies. They have the ability to teleport on the field of battle, so no enemy can escape their savagery. Arch Devils can summon Pit Lords to fight for their cause. | ||

Summon Pit LordsOnce during the combat creature can summon Pit Lords to replace its killed friends. Number of Pit Lords summoned depends on the number of creatures who use this ability (activated ability).Provided the dead stack had enough hit points (120 per summoned Pit Lord), up to 2 Pit Lords are summoned for each Archdevil..

While really only a small Hit Point and Attack/Defense upgrade, the Archdevil also adds the capacity to summon Pit Lords onto the field of battle for the duration of combat. This adds another dimension to the attacking force of the Inferno, especially if the army is in need of a spellcaster. The Devil is similar in statistics to other level 7s, but again its damage range and lowish Hit Points are the problems. | Flyer

Inferno Analysis (by ThE_HyDrA)
Walker: 10Shooter: 2
Flyer: 2
Spellcaster/-: 2
Total Orientation: While having seemingly more magic at their disposal, the Inferno seem weaker in the early game. Their endgame spellcasting creatures greatly augment their power, but are generally forced onto the offensive with Nightmares and Cerberus. (The level 4 ranger is also handy) A healthy balance between might and magic is enjoyed.
This information comes from the Heroes V release version (v3.0).

Inferno Intro
Some familiar names are present, other not so familiar, as we witness the renaissance of the Inferno faction. Having regained the faith of Pit Fiends and Balors to join their army, they have also lured Nightmares from their Chaotic lair. The Demon assumes a much more minor position in this iteration of the Inferno Town, while the only new addition is its upgrade, the Horned Demon, and the Succubus pair, who are the town's only ranged attackers.
