Heroes Community Spotlight

Heroes 3 discussion goes on in the Library of Engligtenment. These threads are treasurehouses for advanced HOMM3 players: HOMM3 Tactics and how to attack special buildings effectively?.

Not many people know that HC contains an exclusive Q & A from Nival, posted by Vlaad. You might notice that there's something fishy about it. The funniest thing is that several people who posted in that thread did not think so!

RedSoxFan3 started a deep discussion about Computer Addiction. Topics discussed include causes, symphtoms, MMORPGS, HC addiction, and personal accounts of playing non-stop for periods of time that can make you feel like a noob.

What is it like when Heroes Community members meet in real life? The_Gootch tells about his visit to Peacemaker and the unfortunate intricacies of female psychology in Real Life Meetings page 7.

News Ticker added to all pages of AOH and HC

This bit of news is quite self-explanatory, just go to any page of Age of Heroes or Heroes Community to check out the new news ticker - it's right under the pagetop banner. Adding to the niftyness of the ticker, if you click 'read more' for an older news entry, the news window on this page will automatically focus on the news entry you've selected. Also, you might have noticed that HC search has been added to the lower section of this page.

Heroes V: Screenshots, System Requirements and More!

A batch of 7 news screenshots were uploaded yesterday, thanks to HC Member Vlaad for discovering them. The main new element in the screens is a green-roofed cathedral/church structure that has not been spied before.

Additionally, the system requirements for Heroes V were posted on the Heroes V Ubi Store site. However, they were later disregarded by the Heroes V Producer, Fabrice Cambounet: "Another US PR "mishandling"... The sys req for H5 have not yet been established."

Frequent viewers of the Heroes V Section may have noticed the updates table. This will contain small updates, specific to the Heroes V section only. Hence, you can keep up-to-date with the latest happenings.

The Age of Heroes International Create-a-Town Contest has been met with great enthusiasm. There have been a number of proposals posted already, so drop by and post your suggestions for the proposals, or invent one yourself!

Create a Town for Heroes V - International Contest!

Many fans have been disappointed that Nival will only accept Russian language entries for 'Create a Town for Heroes V' Contest. We think that every fan deserves a fair chance to create a town for Heroes V and that is why we now announce the Age of Heroes International Create a Town for Heroes V Contest.

The AOH International contest is open to all English language entries. This is how it works:

1) The entries are to be posted in the Altar of Wishes forum of Heroes Community with a subject prefix ICTC: (International Create a Town Contest). For example: ICTC: The Arctic Town

2) The visitors are welcome to post Suggestions - to help the contest participant improve his/her entry. The authors can edit their entries and keep improving them. This is the chance to learn from others or to help your favourite author. Threads will be kept free of spam.

3) All entries will be finalised on 5th of February - no more suggestions or editing. Now the visitors will post their Ratings - any entry can be given a rating of 0 to 10 (10 is the best).

4) The threads will be closed on 15th of February - no more ratings. Age of Heroes Judges will now view the entries. Based on visitor ratings and their own judgement, the judges will select the top three entries. The combined visitor ratings will be a 50% factor in the decision, while the other 50% will be the combined ratings of the AOH judges.

5) The winners will be announced on 20th of February. The winning entries will be translated into Russian language and sent as entries into the Nival's official contest. ThE_HyDrA will do the basic translations and I will literary-proof them. ThE_HyDrA is our H5 Content admin and Heroes Community's top quality poster and I am a native Russian speaker - the translations will be done with professional quality.

Our prizes are currently being confirmed - stay tuned for the announcement! Effectively, someone could win both contests with one entry and get two sets of prizes - even better than entering the Nival contest directly ;)

Age of Heroes ICTC Rules:

• Entries must adhere to Nival's contest guidelines.
• Entries must be in English.
• Entries must follow the posting procedure described above.
• No entries from the contest Judges.

We wish everyone good luck and look forward to selecting the winners! Spread the word.

All questions about the contest will be answered in this thread.

Heroes of Might and Magic 2 Site Update

Heroes of Might and Magic 2 is the game that inspired me to start my first HOMM website in 1997 which eventually became what you see right now (site history). Together with Miru and ThE_HyDrA we've put together the towns pages for our Heroes 2 Section. There is now a detailed illustrated list of buildings for every town, a town cost comparison table and beautiful screenshots of fully built towns. You can navigate to it from Heroes 2 Section Main Menu or using the HC Menu. It was a bit of nostalgia for me, but people relatively new to HOMM series will surely find this interesting.

It is our vision to make Age of Heroes - www.heroesofmightandmagic.com - the complete info source for every HOMM game. With around 500 pages so far we are pretty close, but there are still gaps to fill. And with HOMM5 around the corner there will be plenty of pagemaking work. We are always looking for contributors to help us complete this resource - if you'd like to lend a hand, e-mail me.

Heroic Corner Heroes V 2005 Preview, 5 New Screens

LaBoule of Heroic Corner has posted his preview of Heroes of Might and Magic V for 2005. In the preview, LaBoule details the changes that the Heroes series has undergone by moving to a new developer, and the impact that the various amendments may have on the game - for better or worse. It features a direct insight into the hero-level up system in particular. Read the roughly translated version here.

Along with this preview came 5 new screenshots, some of which have a couple of unseen buildings. They are of a visually high quality, and focus mainly on the Academy. View them in the Official Screenshots Gallery.
