- LIBERATION: DEAL WITH A DEVIL -
Narrative: My name is Dorrell, ambassador from AvLee. I bring a message from Queen Catherine. After the liberation of Steadwick, a Kreegan envoy appeared before the royal court. He claims they have captive, King Roland Ironfist of Enroth. They are asking for one million gold ransom. We cannot validate this claim. True or not Queen Catherine is unwilling to pay. After interrogating the envoy, we learned Roland is held deep inside Eeofol by Clan Kreelah. Locate Clan Kreelah's base of operations and rescue Roland. In addition to your Erathian army we will support you from AvLee. This mission is of utmost seriousness. You may rescue Roland, or find yourself the victim of a trap.
Size: Medium
Difficulty: Normal
Number of Players: 2
Your Color: Red
Starting Town: Two Castles and One Rampart
Alliances: None
Win Conditions: Capture Kleesive.
Lose Conditions: Lose all your towns and heroes.
Special Rules:If you found the Badge of Courage or Pendant of Life
in Steadwick's Liberation, the one you found follows you here. If you find the Charm
of Mana or the Spyglass, they go with you to Neutral Affairs.
Scenario Description: To win, you must capture the city of
Kleesive. Some Border Guards can be passed only if a Hero carries a quest artifact
from Steadwick's Liberation, but the artifact beyond the Border Guard will travel with you
to Neutral Affairs.
Suggested Solution:
A. Starting bonus - Scroll of Icebolt
B. Approach - build up your towns quickly and attack from two sides simultaneously; seek out the Border Guards
C. Strategy - there isn't much to this scenario. It's a basic build up, kill the bad guy level. The only special condition is finding the Border Guards and claiming the artifacts behind them. You don't need to worry about being attacked for at least the first three weeks - the computer isn't strong enough to deal with the Pit Lords guarding all the passes. Build up and explore at your leisure, but make sure to have two strong heroes ready to go on the offensive from both your bases by week four. The Inferno towns you will encounter are weak and will fall easily. In fact, the ai will pose no threat to you. The only thing you need to worry about are the Arch Devils guarding the western valley pass. Inside that valley you'll find the two Border Guards. Completing the seers' quests will, ultimately, get you the Lion's Shield of Honor, but you won't need that to beat the level. The town of Kleesive is located in the eastern valley and is surrounded by cursed ground (don't count on your magic to win you that fight). Once Kleesive falls, you'll move on the next scenario.
